Hi, I’m Grace Garoutte-Mohammed
I graduated from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with a Masters in Clinical Counseling, with an emphasis on treating Trauma. I am currently working towards full licensure under the supervision of Kristen Riel, LPC. In addition to working as a therapist, I work as an adjunct professor of psychology at Carroll University.
Clients describe me as warm, supportive, encouraging, and gently challenging. I utilize the following techniques in sessions:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Emotional Freedom Technique (aka “tapping”)
Gottman Method (for couples)
The clients who have the most success in therapy with me recognize that change takes time, and they’re willing to try new things in order to break the status quo of their life. They come ready to figure out what is holding them back and are willing to continue the work we do together outside the therapy room (yes, I’m talking about homework!). They engage in therapy, follow through, and are committed to their growth.
